Perfection worn with grace

Kodawari is a Japanese word for the relentless pursuit of perfection in small things — the kind of care that shows only when you look closely. We named the brand after it because that is exactly what we look for in a weave.

How we began

A search that started with one saree

Kodawari began the way most good things do — with a search that took longer than expected. Looking for a saree that felt considered rather than mass-produced, we kept ending up in the same places: small weaving clusters where the work was extraordinary and almost impossible to buy from directly.

So we started going ourselves.

Where we source

Five regions, one standard

We buy from artisan clusters and handloom weavers across India — Banaras for zari and brocade, Chanderi for its featherweight silk-cotton, Kota for the airy checked kota doria, Assam for its muga and mekhela weaves, and Bengal for jamdani and tant.

Each region is chosen for what it does better than anywhere else, not for what is cheapest.
